How To Prevent Infection After Abdominoplasty?

Before the surgery remove all hair from the surgical area. This should be done with clippers rather than a razor. Shower with antiseptic soap the week before and the night before surgery. After the surgery take the antibiotics exactly as directed by your surgeon. Ask your surgeon for what type of bandages to use, what antibiotic ointments to apply, how to clean the wound and how often to change the bandages. Watch for signs of infection including fever, chills and sweats. Also look at the wound area for redness or pus drainage at the wound area. Contact your surgeon immediately at the first signs of infection.
