NCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity

NCV stands for nerve conduction velocity. A nerve conduction velocity is a test used to measure how fast electrical signals travel through a nerve. The test is performed by placing surface electrodes (patches that stick on the skin like ECG patches) over nerves to be tested. The electrode then emits a mild electrical impulse/shock which stimulates the nerve. The nerve's response (electrical activity) is recorded by other
electrodes inserted into the muscles from the EMG test.
