Hi Tanner,

I had a TT at the end of October and it was a pretty good experience (as far as discomfort, etc). Like you, I didn't really have much pain outside of the sore abs - felt like I'd done about 1000 too many sit-ups). I didn't really need any pain meds outside of Aspirin and stopped taking that after the 3rd or 4th day. I didn't like the dizziness that the percocet gave me, so I opted out of using it.

Its been about 4 weeks and my PS just gave me some silicone gel for the scar. She told me that the consensus from the medical field is silicone gel and tape over the scar (with tape creating heat on the scar which will aid in healing and scar reduction) are the only proven methods. I was wondering what kinds of treatments for scar reduction you've heard were successful or have you used. And how long have you heard its necessary to treat a scar with those methods to help reduce it? Thanks.

Mike,

When I had my tummy tuck my surgeon didn't tell me anything about scars or their treatment, so for the first month or so I just applied Neosporin to the incision line and kept it covered all the time. I did buy one or two of those scar reducing gels (I can't tell you which ones at this point) from the drug store afterwards but they were expensive and I couldn't see any difference after I used them so I never bought any more.

Thanks for the info about what your surgeon told you regarding scar reduction treatments. I will post it and I'm sure others will find it
helpful.

Sorry, but no one has ever contacted me with positive results from scar treatments that they have used or how long they applied them, so I can't
tell you which ones are successful. That would be good information to have.
